Christmas Card #12 - Miss December 2011

I am making amends for last week's very late entry into the Bah Humbug Challenge.  I have got a bit of time to myself this morning as Chris is up a mountain somewhere, Emily hasn't surfaced yet and Stewart is away at his weekend home (well it might as well be he is always there lol).  I am not going visiting until this evening so thought I'd get cracking on a card, the h*******k can bloomin' wait.

This week's challenge  is to make a card that makes you giggle.  As soon as I saw this challenge I knew I was going to use this image from Just Inklined Maude's Merry Christmas.  I am going to send it to a work colleague of Chris' who I think will love it.

I followed the sketch on Sketch Saturday and am also entering it into the
One Stop Craft Challenge - Spots and Dots
Sparkles Forum Christmas Challenge - Ribbon and gems
I Love Promarkers - Emboss It

Right off to get some jobs done, then catch up on some of the telly I've missed this week and have a wander around blogland.

Christmas Card #11

I am really, really sorry but this week's Christmas Card is extremely late. This is the first challenge I have missed in the Bah Humbug Challenge, sorry ladies.  I do have a good excuse though with mum still in hospital.  She had her chest drained yesterday, 900 mls of fluid and now feels tons better, she even said she was hungry for the first time in 2 weeks.  The nurses have said she may be home for the weekend.  Yippee!!

The challenge this week was Christmas Trees.

I am also entering it into the Winter Wonderland Challenge 'Baubles' but I think I've missed the deadline for that too.

Other challenges I am entering:
Cute Card Thursday - Couples (Forever Friends Bears)
Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge - Christmas in Spring

Mother's Day

My card today is for my lovely mum on Mother's Day.  She is still in hospital, going through a bit of a rough time with the chest infection but always has a smile for us when we visit.  I am hoping she will be home for the weekend.

I have used this fab Lili of the Valley image Teddy with 'mum' balloons and coloured with Promarkers.  I have followed the sketch on Friday Sketchers Blog.

Mum loves bees and butterflies so I have added a couple of SeeD bees.  The sentiment is Paula Pascual.  The papers were a freebie in a magazine from My Minds Eye.  Punched flowers and Lace Doily border punch. Gems and corner peel off from stash.  I have also spritzed the sentiment and flowers with shimmer mist but don't think you can see it on the photo.

I am adding this card to the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp - Mother's Day
Craft Your Days Away - For Mum
Stampin' For the Weekend - For Mum
Passion for Promarkers - Bugs
Top Tip Tuesday - Nature
I love Promarkers - Dotty
Lili of the Valley Challenge - Punch it
Colour Create - Pastels

Brenda's 70th Birthday

Another quick one today.  This card has been asked for by one of my sister's neighbours.  I made a 70th card for her last year and she wanted one for a friend of hers.
The brief was Brenda, 70, smooth white cat.

I googled white cat pics and after going cross eyed finally came up with this one.  Matted it onto silver mirri card and then onto swiss dots embossed card.    I printed the sentiment on computer and added a few little white pearls.

Mum is still in hospital, she has managed to get herself a chest infection after the op so won't be home as soon as we thought.  The consultant saw her yesterday and said it would probably be a few days.  Just been round to mum and dad's house and given it a good clean while he was at afternoon visiting, it wasn't too bad as dad hasn't been there much.  Going to have something to eat and then off to evening visit.  I think my car knows it's own way there now!

Christmas Card #10

A really quick one tonight. Just got back from hospital. Mum has been moved back onto the main ward now and has had most of the wires and tubes removed.  She has been out of bed and had a little walk up the corridor but was really tired so we only stayed 45 mins and came home.

My card tonight is the quickest I've ever made I think.  It's for the Bah Humbug Challenge which this week is metallics.
I simply cut a mirri card mat with my lacey squares  die and stamped onto the white card with the dove and peace stamp from Recollections 'Celebrate the season' set and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then added the metal snowflake and a few clear gems.

Thank you for all the good wishes for my mum. She had her bypass operation yesterday morning. Just got back from seeing her and she is sat up in a chair in intensive care having a cup of tea!!

Good Afternoon Bloggers. Isn't it a lovely day, blooming cold though!!  My card today is again my weekly Christmas Card.

I started off making it for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge which this week is more than one fold.  I wanted to do a gatefold card but scored my card in the wrong place so ended up with this offset gatefold card.  I quite like it though lol.

Christmas Card #7

My card today is my weekly Christmas Card for the Bah Humbug Challenge.  This week it is 'Things that fly'.  I downloaded this freebie digi stamp from Just Inklined '4 Robins' a while ago and never used it.

I thought promarkers would be too deep for this image so dragged out my watercolours which haven't seen the light of day in a while.  I think I need a bit more practice with them though.  The red holly paper is a free download from Cuddly Buddly and the green holly paper is a scrap I had left from a very old paper pack.  The sentiment is a freebie from the front of a magazine and the poinsetta was from a prize win at Bah Humbug.

I am also entering this into the following challenges:

Sketch Saturday - The sketch
ABC Challenge - O for Ovals
ABC Christmas Challenge - 1 digi, 2 papers and 2 embellishments (poinsetta and ribbon)
Crazy 4 Challenges - Flowers

Baby Girl Cards x 2

Do you remember me saying a while ago that there were a few babies due soon.  Well the Law of Sod has struck again,  I had 2 baby boy cards ready to go and you guessed it, its a girl.  Baby Isobel has arrived.  I had one card for the new mum already but still had to make 2 for the new grannies who |I work with.

Here is the first.

I am entering this card into a few challenges.
A  Gem of  a Challenge - Buttons, Brads, Beads and Bows
Digital Tuesday - Punches
Totally Papercraft - Do it with Dig
Die Cut Dreams - Baby Girl

The cute giraffe is a digi stamp from Pink Gem Designs and it is coloured with Promarkers.  Sentiment is from Cuddly Buddly.

Here's my second card.

I am entering this one into a couple of challenges too

I love Promarkers - Stitching

I have used this cute Sugar Nellie stamp 'Circle of Life' and coloured with Promarkers.  She looked a bit boyish so I drew a bow in her hair.  I guess that's what we do with real babies when they haven't got much hair, stick a bow on so strangers don't say aww what a lovely little boy lol.  Papers are Stamping Up and Basic Grey.

Paul's 40th Take 2

I kept going back to look at Paul's card from yesterday and just couldn't put my finger on what was wrong.  Then I got a fab constructive comment from Abi saying that the background was too white.  That's exactly what was wrong with it so I took it all apart and printed off another stripey digi paper, again from Summer Driggs and now I like it a whole lot better.

What do you think?

Paul's 40th

A colleague at work has asked me to make a card for her partner's 40th. I really hate making cards for other people to give and especially those dreaded men cards.  I quite like the way this one has turned out but still feel there is something 'missing' so if you have any ideas I would appreciate them.

I am entering this one into this weeks Penny Black Saturday Challenge 'Men's Card'.
The stamp is PB 'Bubble of Joy' coloured with Promarkers.
Papers - Free download from Summer Driggs

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:
Cute Card Thursday - Shiny, happy cards.
Stamp Something - Something Funky
One Stop Craft Challenge - Birthday Card

Christmas Card (Sort Of) #7

Good afternoon everyone. Another miserable day here in Manchester, drizzly rain and freezing cold.  The crocus have started to pop up though so hopefully it will warm up soon.

My project today is for the Bah Humbug Challenge which this week is Ann's Challenge 'Use a CD/DVD.  I checked on Splitcoast Stampers and found the instructions to make a CD/DVD holder.

and here's a pic of it open

Emily is a real film buff and always gets loads of DVDs for Christmas so I might make a few more of these.

I have used the Penny Black stamp Winter Snuggles from the Jolly Holly set and coloured with Promarkers.  I have used glamour dust for the snow.  The papers are Stamping Up and the Sentiment is from last years Bah Humbug win.

I am also entering this into:
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Anything but a card.
Secret Crafter - Fancy Folds
